...and we're back!

(warning: long post ahead)
for thanksgiving, we headed down to dallas to visit burt's family...we decided it would be smart if we left at 5:30 am on wednesday...that meant i needed to have everything by the front door the night before, so i could just nurse him, load up and hit the road...these are some of my pilesso much stuff to take once you have a child...and i know it will only get worse!

our new jogging stroller, burt wanted to test it out down there...my in-law's live in this neat community near the north park mall that used to be a golf course, so it has lots of trees, several ponds (you have to watch out for the geese) and great walking trails

a new toy from lucky
papa reading to mccoy...he loved the dr. seuss books
bath time! mccoy's first bath in a real tub...burt's knees didn't appreciate it though
cute thanksgiving pjs
i am definitely not ready to see our baby in a real bed, but he does look cute

mccoy hanging out with his great grandmother, nani...she just loved holding him and so did mccoy

thanksgiving day...
burt's sister and her family...mandy, aaron, austin and drew
drew absolutely loved mccoy...he thought it was just wonderful how mccoy would hold his finger...he later asked his mother if mccoy had been crying since he wasn't there to hold mccoy's hand

aunt mandy and mccoy
she told me she was excited that she finally gets to be called an aunt

drew wanted to feed the ducks, so we all went down to the pond...mandy and drew took off trying to find them, while we enjoyed the sunshine

our family
HAPPY 5 MONTH DAY MCCOY...he didn't really get pumpkin roll, but he sure wanted to...this is also right after he exploded all over burt!
more reading!
at mccoy's christening back in august, he wore my family's christening gown...so lucky (that's my mother-in-law's grandma name) wanted some pictures of mccoy in their family gown...i thought he look so precious!

on saturday, the cousins and us went to a park in dallas to take some pictures for lucky to use as christmas cards...this is what austin and drew wore and underneath is a picture of mccoy's outfit...i wasn't able to get a good picture of him in it, but he is going to wear it at christmas again...so i'll hopefully have plenty then

mccoy on the way home (he loves to play with burp cloths)...we once again left at 5:30 am, but it was so nice to be home early and he did great the whole trip!

this year, burt and i have been so blessed, and we are thankful for all of our family and friends and our health, but most of all for our sweet and precious boy, mccoy...he is the light of our lives and everyday is a new adventure...i can't wait to love him more tomorrow!

big boy crib!

this weekend, mccoy started sleeping in his crib! burt and i were going to wait until he was sleeping through the night but that day seemed far away...he was doing good in our room in his pack-n-play, waking up only once a night, then he went back to his younger days where he was up at least three times a night...so we decided he might just need to be in his own room with no distractions...he's doing so good! we're still waking up about once a night, but we have somewhat of a routine...and we started swaddling! mccoy hated being swaddled, but when he wasn't sleeping well, i brought the miracle blanket back out...at first, he was unsure of it, then he hated it and now he just knows this is how it's going to be...this is how i find him every morning-crooked!

in his room, we replaced all the windows because they were old and single paned...even though, the new ones were beautiful, especially with all the natural light, babies don't do well at nap time with all that 'natural light'...so we put up these curtains that have the blackout liner in them and they are awesome! no light in there during the day...it's now our little nursery cave!

poor baby...

last thursday...i got a call at work from our babysitter, lindsay, that mccoy had been vomiting but he wasn't running a fever...so i rushed home and called the doctor to make an appointment for the evening...when i got home to see him, he was kind of out of it but not nearly as bad as i had anticipated...so burt and i went to the doctor's office, and he had a little stomach bug but they said it had probably already passed...when we got home, of course, he was all giggles...he was probably laughing at us...we're such new parents! this is our first little video, and i was trying to get his giggles...i think i got more spitting!

sorry about the video quality!

razorback weekend

this weekend, the hogs played south carolina up here with such beautiful weather...my parents came up to see the game but mainly to hold mccoy...my aunt vicki came over saturday morning to watch him, and she did such a wonderful job...he was so happy when we got home...i know most fans don't like early games, but they are so nice when you have a little guy...we get up and go to the game and get to come home and play with him...oh, and we were really excited that the hogs won!

getting tickled before we left...it's so hard to leave him...we just want to keep hugging him and making him smile!

before we headed off to the game

my parents playing with mccoy

double fistin'

on sunday, just hanging out at the house...notice mccoy working real hard to see the television.

our little man a.k.a. mobster

happy halloween! after combing through catalog after catalog and one website after another looking for a halloween costume for mccoy, we came up with one on our own! so this friday, we went up to the fayetteville square to go trick or treating to debut him as our..."little man"! here he is getting suited up...this little outfit made him look so grown up (maybe all of 12 months old)...in this picture he starts looking like a mobster...and everyone on the square thought that was what we were going for...oh well!
it was such a beautiful day, little windy but just gorgeous!
we also met up with brad, becca and kenzie kloss...
kenzie was dressed as this fabulous southern belle with this great big hat, but the wind kept blowing it off.
mccoy checking out all of the kiddos...
when we are out with him, he never smiles too much because he is always looking around...he's very quiet and observant...as soon as we're home, the smiles come out...this one is kind of a smirk with his half wiped off mustache!
we had so much fun this weekend...sometimes it's surreal to realize that we are the parents taking our child to a family event...it's so worth every second!
